Space was not the biggest problem at Proviron in Ostend. However, it was a bit of a puzzle to find the appropriate construction method on this historic industrial estate. On this, with equally historical industrial pollution, it came down to creating a safe and workable environment for the construction crew with as little dust and invasive technology as possible.
We also had to take into account the aircraft traffic coming from the nearby airport. Fortunately, the special design for our AZTEQ CST platform guarantees zero impact for landing aircraft.
A top layer was laid on the unstable ground so that maintenance work can also be carried out safely at a later stage. Furthermore, screw foundations were placed in the unstable ground on which the AZTEQ CST platform could be placed. Finally, a service road was constructed so that the installation, also 1,100 m² in size, could be reached safely and comfortably.
The primary oil circuit contains a silica oil with water class 1 for optimal environmental protection. The oil is heated to 380 °C after which it is converted into steam at a specific pressure and temperature via a steam generator.
After the start-up of this project, this 1,100 m² solar boiler will supply 500 MWh of thermal heat for 20 years, without emissions.
