The world is changing to meet the challenge of climate change. Governments are releasing ambitious plans to protect their ecosystems and limit the impact of climate change on their communities. Following the Paris Climate Agreement, the European Union set out their ‘European Green Deal’ in December 2019. This policy aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.

Policy initiatives and regulations to meet this target pose a challenge to businesses that produce CO2 emissions. An eco-friendly alternative for industrial heat is needed – which is where Azteq steps in.

The European Green Deal

The EU describes climate change and environmental degradation as an “existential threat to Europe and the world”. The European Green Deal aims to create a Europe with no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050, economic growth is decoupled from resource use, and no community is left behind.

At its heart, the European Green Deal aims to make the economy sustainable in every aspect, from district heating to the aviation industry. This policy initiative provides an action plan to help boost the efficient use of resources to create a circular economy to restore biodiversity and cut pollution.

Part of the European Green Deal is a proposed European Climate Law, which has received provisional agreement. It will enshrine the EU’s commitment to climate neutrality by 2050 and include an intermediate target of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

There will be regulations and initiatives to move businesses to environmentally sustainable alternatives to meet these goals.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has described the European Green Deal as Europe’s “man on the moon moment”.

Meet Azteq

Our company is aligned to meet the demands of the European Green Deal and help companies meet the regulations in place. Azteq is a next-generation company that offers heat solutions to B2B organisations to help them lower their CO2 emissions. We primarily operate in the industrial sectors while expanding into the district heating sector within cities.

Azteq’s target demographic is industries that can utilise steam as a way of lowering their CO2 emissions. These industries include chemical companies, breweries, bottling plants, and steel producers, to name a few.

Under the European Green Deal, the EU Emission Trading System (ETS) will continue to grow. As time passes, it’ll become harder for companies to continue producing CO2 emissions, meaning they have to find industrial solar energy or environmental-friendly alternative. This situation is where Azteq comes in.

Our ambition is to lead a European revolution in green heat technology and bring it to an industrial scale. Azteq is endorsed by organisations like Bond Beter Leefmilieu and Greenpeace, reinforcing our ambition to make a difference for our planet through green technology to provide an eco-friendly solution for industrial heat.
